89.3 KZUM is proud to announce a benefit featuring the music documentary “Before the Music Dies” and local reggae act, RC Dub. The State Theatre, 1415 O Street, will host the benefit on Thursday, November 29th at 7 p.m.
Before the Music Dies is “an engaging, critical look at the current state of the music industry,” says KZUM Program Director Jesse Starita. The film also investigates the relationship between radio and the music industry and “is perfect for music fans, radio enthusiasts and anyone interested in how technology is changing our entertainment landscape,” says Starita.
The documentary encourages fans to support their local music scene--and to that end--KZUM selected Lincoln’s premier reggae act, RC Dub (www.rcdub.com), for a live set following the film. The sextet has toured all over the country and become fan favorites among Lincolnites. They fuse an exotic and intriguing blend of ska, dub, reggae and rocksteady.
Nearly all proceeds will go directly to 89.3 KZUM, a non-profit organization and the state’s first and only community station. Tickets are $10 at the door and $8 for members and/or those with a KZUM Klub Kard or KZUM t-shirt and hat. KZUM Members can also pick up premiums from the fall pledge drive by presenting their premium cards. For more information, call 474-5086 or visit www.kzum.org |
